Dermal anchors, Surface Anchors, microdermals and skin diver.
By Franz Nieto
Dermal anchors,Surface anchors, microdermals and skin divers are pieces that are inserted in subcutaneous skin (fatty tissue), leaving exposed a very small post (1.5mm to 2.5mm) through the dermisand epidermis, in which different accessories can be screwed in.
They have been popularized all over the world and are the result of the evolution of transdermal implants, modifications of surface piercings and of a piercing technique known as pocketing.
Throughout many years I have participated in the development of dermal anchors, to the point of witnessing in today’s market some extraordinary models at the public’s disposal.
GOA® introduced Dermal Anchors to the Colombian market. Since 2004 we have worked with these pieces and have in our history hundreds of successful microdermals in our Bogota piercing shop (CR 14 # 80-71, Bogotá, Colombia) as well as our piercing shop in Miami (10740 SW 24th Street, Miami, FL 33165), where we are known as “the pioneers of anchors in South Florida.”
